Terms of Service

Spicy Lyrics

Effective: 2026-08-14 Last updated: 2026-08-14

In short. Spicy Lyrics is free. Your profile is public. You are responsible for what you put on it, and you must have the right to any content you contribute. Moderators can edit or clear profile content, and if they do, we will tell you why and you can contest it. Anyone can report illegal content to us at [email protected]. Nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer under EU law.

1. Who we are and how to reach us

The Spicy Lyrics web services at spicylyrics.org are operated by Spicy Lyrics, from Slovakia (EU).

Our single point of contact — for you, and for Member State authorities, the European Commission, and the European Board for Digital Services under Articles 11 and 12 of the Digital Services Act — is:

[email protected]

You can also reach us on our Discord server at discord.gg/lyrc. Use whichever you prefer — you are not required to go through an automated tool, and both channels reach a person.

We accept communications in English and Slovak.

2. Scope — this site only

These Terms apply only to the websites and web services at spicylyrics.org, including public profile pages and the profile embed used inside the Spotify desktop client.

Spicy Lyrics offers other products and services — the Spicetify extension, the Discord bot, and the lyrics API among them — and each has its own separate terms of service and privacy policy. This document does not govern them.

By using the Spicy Lyrics websites and services at spicylyrics.org, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

3. What the service is

Spicy Lyrics provides web-based access to lyric profiles and related content:

  • Public profiles, showing which songs a contributor has made or uploaded synced lyrics for, along with view counts and the profile customisation that contributor has chosen.
  • Guides, explaining how the wider Spicy Lyrics contribution process works.

The service is free. We do not charge for it, there is no paid tier, and there are no ads. You do not need an account to browse public profiles or read the guides; you need one to edit your own profile.

Spicy Lyrics runs on a database shared across the whole Spicy Lyrics ecosystem, so data shown here may have been created elsewhere in that ecosystem, and changes you make here may be visible to it.

4. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 13 years old to sign in — or older, if the law where you live sets a higher minimum for using a service like this.

Sign-in is provided by Clerk, using your Discord account. You must also meet Discord's own requirements, including its age requirements. We do not see or store your password or any other login credential; those stay with Clerk and Discord.

You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. If you think someone else has access to it, secure your Discord account and tell us.

5. Your profile content

You can set the following on your own profile, and nothing else:

Field Limits
Colours — a gradient (two colours plus a rotation) or a single colour Six-digit hex values
Background effect — one of a fixed set of effects, plus its intensity, speed, scale, hue, and accent colour Numeric ranges we define
Pronouns — free text Up to 26 characters; no control characters, no angle brackets
Social links — Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), YouTube, Genius, YourSitee Up to 50 characters each; letters, digits, dots, and underscores only
Spotify link Up to 100 characters; must be an https://open.spotify.com/… address

All of it together is capped at 8 KB. Anything that does not fit these rules is rejected when you save.

You are responsible for what you put in these fields. By saving them you confirm that the content is lawful, that it is yours to publish or that you have permission to publish it, that it does not impersonate anyone, and that it is not deceptive, infringing, or otherwise in breach of Section 7.

The licence you give us. So that we can actually run the service, you grant Spicy Lyrics a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, and publicly display the content you put on your profile — including in link previews and in the Spotify-client embed. This licence exists only for the purpose of operating and promoting the service, and it ends when you remove the content, apart from copies that remain in caches or backups until they expire. You keep all your rights in the content.

Remember it is public. Everything in this section is shown on a page anyone can open, that search engines can index, and that can be embedded elsewhere. Our Privacy Policy explains this in full.

6. Lyrics and contributions

Profile pages do not show lyrics. They show which songs a contributor has made or uploaded lyrics for, together with view counts — not the words themselves.

Contributions are not made here. Making and uploading synced (TTML) lyrics happens through the Spicy Lyrics Discord workflow described in our guides, not on this website. This site displays the result and credits you for it.

If you contribute lyrics anywhere in the Spicy Lyrics ecosystem, you confirm that you have the right to do so, and that your contribution does not infringe anyone's copyright or other rights.

Lyrics are for your personal use. Rights in the underlying lyrics belong to their respective rights holders — songwriters, publishers, and licensors — and nothing here transfers any of those rights to you. Do not redistribute, republish, or commercially exploit lyrics obtained through this service.

We do not warrant that lyrics are accurate, complete, correctly attributed, or available for any particular song.

If you hold rights in lyrics reachable through this service and believe they should not be, see Section 10.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • scrape the service, or retrieve lyrics or profile data in bulk or by automated means;
  • circumvent or attempt to circumvent rate limits, the anti-bot check, access controls, or any other technical measure;
  • probe, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the service's internal interfaces, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, data, or system;
  • disrupt the service or place an unreasonable load on it;
  • impersonate any person or organisation, or misrepresent your affiliation with one;
  • publish content in your profile fields that is unlawful, infringing, deceptive, harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit, or that links to any of those;
  • use the service to break any applicable law, or for any purpose these Terms prohibit.

8. Content moderation

This section is our disclosure under Article 14 of the Digital Services Act.

What we restrict. We may act on profile content that is illegal, that breaches Section 5 or Section 7, or that exposes the service to legal risk. We apply restrictions in a diligent, objective, and proportionate way, with due regard for your fundamental rights — including your freedom of expression.

Who decides. Spicy Lyrics moderators and administrators, who are people. No content decision on this service is made automatically. The only automated measures we run are:

  • format validation when you save — checking that a colour is a valid hex value, that pronouns are within the length limit, that a link matches the expected shape. This checks form, never meaning, and it simply refuses the save; and
  • traffic-level anti-bot screening, which may show you a captcha before a page loads. It looks at the connection, never at content, and it cannot change or remove anything.

Neither of those judges what your content says.

What we can do here. On this website, a moderator's power is limited to editing or clearing the profile customisation described in Section 5 — colours, background effect, pronouns, and social links. Contributions, roles, and the lyrics database itself are administered through the Discord side of the ecosystem, under its own rules.

We will tell you why. If we restrict content you provided, we will give you a statement of reasons covering: what we did and how long it applies; the facts we relied on, and whether we acted on a report or on our own initiative; whether any automated means were involved; the legal or contractual ground for the decision, and why your content fell foul of it; and how to contest it.

How to contest a decision. Reply to us at [email protected] or on Discord. A person will re-examine the decision. If we got it wrong, we will reverse it and restore your content. Because we are a small provider, this complaint handling is done by hand rather than through a formal in-app system — but it is a real review by someone who was not simply repeating the first decision, and your rights under Section 14 are unaffected either way.

9. Reporting illegal content

Anyone — you do not need an account — can notify us of content on this service that they believe is illegal. This is our notice-and-action mechanism under Article 16 of the Digital Services Act.

Send your notice to [email protected]. Please include:

  1. A substantiated explanation of why you believe the content is illegal;
  2. The exact location of the content — the full URL, and which part of the page you mean;
  3. Your name and email address — except where your report concerns an offence under Articles 3 to 7 of Directive 2011/93/EU (offences relating to the sexual abuse or exploitation of children), in which case you may report anonymously; and
  4. A statement that you believe in good faith that the information in your notice is accurate and complete.

A notice that includes all four allows us to establish the illegality without a detailed legal examination, so please do include them — but we will look at incomplete reports too.

What we will do:

  • confirm we received your notice, without undue delay;
  • assess it in a timely, diligent, non-arbitrary, and objective manner;
  • tell you what we decided, and how you can seek redress if you disagree; and
  • tell you if any automated means were used in handling your notice. Today, none are — every report is read by a person.

10. Copyright and intellectual property

If you hold rights in content shown here. Email [email protected] with the information listed in Section 9 — identifying the work, the exact URL where it appears, and the basis for your claim. We will act on valid claims without undue delay.

Third-party content. Song titles, artist names, and album artwork come from Spotify. Avatars and banners are served from Discord. Those remain the property of their respective owners, and are shown here to identify songs and contributors.

Our content. The Spicy Lyrics name, logo, and the design of this website belong to us. These Terms do not give you a licence to use them.

Open-source software. Parts of this service build on open-source work, used under their respective licences.

11. Suspension and termination

By you. Stop using the service whenever you like. To have your profile and data removed, email us — see Section 10 of the Privacy Policy.

By us. We may suspend or terminate your access to this website if you materially breach these Terms, if it is necessary to comply with the law, or if it is necessary to protect the service or its users. We will act proportionately: where a warning or a narrower measure would do, we will use that instead. Except where the law or an immediate risk prevents it, we will tell you what we did and why, and you can contest it under Section 8.

Terminating your access here does not by itself remove your data — email us if that is what you want.

12. Availability and changes to the service

We may change, add, or remove features, and we do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or available at any particular time. It may go down for maintenance, or because something upstream of us has.

Where we plan a change that would significantly and adversely affect how you use the service, we will give reasonable notice on the site beforehand if it is feasible to do so. Where a change is forced on us — by law, by a security problem, or by a third-party service we depend on — we may have to act immediately.

13. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, nor that lyrics or any other content are accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
  • damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence; or
  • anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited — including your mandatory rights under consumer protection law and any liability under product liability rules.

Subject to that, and because the service is provided free of charge, our liability to you is limited to the fullest extent the law allows. In particular, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data, or loss of access.

If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by anything in this section.

14. Consumer rights, governing law, and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Slovak Republic, excluding its conflict-of-law rules.

If you are a consumer resident in the EU, that choice does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you live. You keep those protections in full.

Disputes may be brought before the courts of the Slovak Republic. If you are a consumer, you may instead bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, and we will bring proceedings against you only in those courts.

We are not obliged to use, and do not commit to using, any alternative dispute resolution body. The European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform was discontinued on 20 July 2025 and is no longer available.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms, but only for a valid reason. Those reasons are:

  • a change in the law, or in guidance from a regulator or court;
  • a change to the service, its features, or the technology behind it;
  • security needs or the prevention of abuse and fraud;
  • a change in a third-party service we depend on; or
  • correcting an error, ambiguity, or omission.

Notice. We will tell you about any significant change to these Terms by posting it on the site and, where we reasonably can, on our Discord server. Where a change would significantly and adversely affect you, we will give reasonable notice before it takes effect wherever that is practicable — though a change required by law, by a regulator, or to deal with a security or abuse problem may need to take effect immediately. For minor changes, such as fixing a typo or clarifying wording that does not alter what the Terms mean, we will simply update the "Last updated" date.

Your choice. If you do not accept a change, stop using the service, and email us if you want your data deleted. If you keep using the service after a change has taken effect and been notified, that counts as accepting it. We will never apply a change retroactively to something that happened before it took effect.

16. General

Severability. If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in force, and the invalid part is treated as replaced by the closest valid provision.

No waiver. If we do not enforce something straight away, that does not mean we have given up the right to enforce it later.

Whole agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about this website. Other Spicy Lyrics products have their own terms.

Language. These Terms are written in English. If we publish a translation and the two conflict, the English version governs.
